Your sleep can be affected by many things along with having a bed that supports your lifestyle. Here are some interesting facts about dreams that you may not have known.

 

The faces in your dreams are faces you have seen before, whether or not we remember the person in real life. The brain cannot create a face it has not seen before.

80 percent of people say that they dream in color while the rest say that the dream in black and white. Some studies have also been conducted to see if they recognize colors in their dreams and some light pastels have been seen as well.

 

Dreaming is normal and people who do not dream usually have personality disorders. About 50 percent of dreams are forgotten about 5 minutes after waking up and after 10 minutes about 90 percent is gone. Sleep also controls heat regulation and appetite and studies have shown that if you are hungry or cold you probably won’t dream much.

 

Men have dreams about men 70% of the time while women dream of men and women equally. A lot of people also think that dreams are just a bunch of random ideas thrown in but most dreams actually portray realistic people, places and things.

 

You are paralyzed while in dream state and REM, or rapid eye movement which is a deep sleep that dreaming occurs in, prevents you from acting out while you are asleep. Lastly, many dreams are universal. Everyone has dreams about falling, flying, being chased or feeling frozen.

 

There is still a lot of research to be done on dreams but the information that we have so far is amazing. Keep on dreaming!
